What is the earliest date I can get a divorce?
The earliest date that you can get a divorce is three years after the date of your marriage.
Marriage is a serious commitment. It is not a casual relationship. It is therefore public policy that a married couple will not be allowed to end their marriage in the same casual manner that a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship can be ended.
It is only in exceptional circumstances of extreme cruelty and depravity that the court would allow a divorce before the three-year mark has been reached.
