Which offences are bailable?
Bail is a sum of money that is provided as security which is forfeited if the accused fails to appear before the court or the police.
Not all offences are bailable. Capital offences like murder are non-bailable. Bail will also not be offered for serious offences like rape and kidnapping. The judge has the discretion to decide whether to offer bail on a case-by-case basis.
