Opting for an offer to settle

Lawsuits can cost a lot of money. This is especially so if the matter proceeds to trial. As such, the parties to the lawsuit sometimes seek to settle the claim and save costs by stopping the legal proceedings.

This is done by providing the adverse party with an offer to settle and seeing if the adverse party is willing to accept the offer to settle. If the offer to settle is accepted, the action is typically discontinued and both parties to the lawsuit save on legal costs.
